At Active learning we believe that a healthy child is a happy child and one who has the ability to progress not just physically but in every area of their lives. And we are active in every part of our daily school life. At Studio Kids, babies and young children learn by actively investigating the world around them and through social activity with peers and teachers. Children’s interactions enable them to construct ideas and create a framework for thinking and learning; that helps them to develop as learners. When children are actively involved in learning they develop the mental structures that help them to think and grow tremendously. We contribute to children’s active learning by creating the climate and conditions to promote their involvement. All areas of the curriculum, at all stages, are enriched and developed through an active approach.

The school follows a system of theme based education wherein the whole academic curriculum is divided into 24 developmental appropriate different themes which are followed by the entire school irrespective of their classes for 2-3 weeks. The kids are engaged in various theme integrated activities, communication, games, etc. which allows the children to have wide experience of theme throughout the fortnight.

Art and Craft activities help the children learn to be creative. The activities are carefully chosen and matched with the theme of the month so as to include all the mediums such as painting, drawing, origami, crayoning, cutting, pasting, beading, lacing etc. Activities to make children aware of our culture and festivals are also drawn out – such as making national flags, Tri-colour caps, Rakhi decoration, kite decoration etc.

According to Dr. Maria Montessori , “Kids’ individuality must be encouraged and the children should be provided enough space to initiate projects on their own. For such encouragement, children must be provided with right stimulation through sensory and artistic education supplemented with proper ambiance.” Studio Kids is a strong believer of Montessori method of learning wherein we allow complete freedom to Kids to explore new things and master new skills at their own pace. The role of the school is to provide the right ambiance and environment to stimulate such exploration and learning.

These include flash cards, peg board puzzles,  sound puzzles,  jigsaw puzzles, interactive books, abacus, blocks, role play toys, use of slide shows, videos, online games, story telling,  puppet play and many more. These teaching aids take away boredom and monotony from learning and help the children to relate with the themes.

The teachers carefully design and play games that are woven around the theme and incorporates aspects of mathematical, science, language, art, musical, physical and general development. These games help the kids to develop basic social and behavioral skills in a playful way.

In Studio Kids children are exposed to computers at an early stage. Today we are living in an era where 90% of children’s environment is constituted of computers or IT based devises, be it i-pads, smart cell phones  laptops etc. They use computers for playing games, language learning and cognitive development. Studio Kids is well equipped with children age appropriate softwares and websites which help the children to develop computer and language skills simultaneously  They have access to phonic programs, interactive multimedia program on language development, slideshows  and sound books and games.
